God and some more..

Not the first of village visits…but this one after a very very long time…

A trip of a few firsts :
  • First religious trip in a Big group (which means lots and lots of food- don’t even want to start on this one..lost count of the diff types of biscuits that were carried for like 2 days)
  • First time i got a massage done (hehehe..wasn’t as sophisticated as a spa treatment..is a village afterall)- it was ok, i was giggling way too much..quite a funny experience actually
  • First time i actually distributed food amongst the beggars- we got rice and dal prepared for them, and also gave away packets of biscuits (after giving away half a set..someone pointed out- they might just re-sell the packed ones..so we opened the packets and distributed the food- keep note of this one..open the packets or whatever and distribute as much as you like..atleast on your part you’re ensuring that the food packets won’t be resold.

An eye-opener
Our country is Very Very beautiful. Yes. Even the interiors of jharkhand and bihar. (this is for all those losers who turn their face against anything Indian)- couldn’t take pictures on the way..the view and all..but its breathtakingly beautiful – the mountains, the greenery…very fresh!
Also, unfortunately..these areas are HIGHLY under developed…thats a major drawback..(hence lack of toursim)
The drainage system…toilets and all-lack of hygiene–dirty–stinking–we dont even realise how  lucky we are to be living in the city with our clean toilets..and i am SO not complaining about small things from now on…people complain about water problems etc. etc. remember you’re very lucky..there are places where people still heat water separately and carry buckets towards those separate bath cubicles (yes i did that)..there are places where electricity goes off every hour…so stop whining and complaining and save water and electricity. We definitely learn when we see things from a different perspective..
Also within the span of 2 days..i saw all sorts of mosquitos and insects..big ones, small ones, creepy ones, wierd ones-AllOut rules hell, even kacchua chaap rules!

The temple
After a long time i visited a temple.like properly…..sat there..prayed ..spent some time alone..with God (also stared at everyone around me, observed and generally wondered why this whole process is taking so long)
Only when you’re inside a temple you realise why people visit the place so often- for me i think its the Peace a temple offers…the calm feeling that engulfed me once i was inside..cannot be described..for once i forgot my worries and just closed my eyes..not thinking of anything at first..and then slowly thinking about everything i wanted-for everyone as well as myself..wishes, dreams, desires..their faces in my mind, i prayed for them.
Oh and yes like every other thing Temples too have become a moneymaking process in our country. The offerings make the priests very rich- it is very obvious that all the money donated definitely Does Not go into the temple funds..they actually had this ridiculous bidding system-where devotees were invited to bid for the "aarti" and the amount of ghee that they would like to pay for…like they could pay for that quantity of ghee that would last a year, six months or whatever…highest bidder pays..like devotion doesn’t even count!

Train journeys are a lot of fun…this time since we were so many, i had no time to observe wierdos around me (hahaha) Short trips are fun…we should all take them more often..we returned all satisfied, peace in our hearts..lots of jokes, leg pulling, throwing pista shells at each other..small incidents…being among your loved ones..is wonderful.(no i’m not ending on a cheesey note) ..upto a point..coz after that u wont be able to tolerate some ppl! lol
Did a bit of photography..the black and whites in the photo album!

  5. nice, even i have travelled a lot and even in the interiors of certain places of india and i have often observed the hardcore fact that it is a different world altogether.nice snaps i must say. Im going to write soon about my road trip which my family undertook couple of months ago.>>>>.rock on!

  6. loved the one with the boy near the well…beautiful…ur best snap till date…i know india is very very beautiful…realised that when i went to shillong…one thing i want to do before i die is visit ladakh…would beat the most beautiful places on earth…good thing there are hardly any tourists in this village of yours…thats probably why the beauty is intact…and what u mentioned about temples is probably true…but the peace is not so easily achieved…unless you are in some temple thats not in your hometown…with the exception of birla mandir…i checked it out at about 7:00a.m. once…i know what you are talking about-i do my best to conserve paper…wouldnt want to kill trees unnecessarily…hope that more sense will kick in soon…take care

  12. Beaches n weekend getaways do sound cool Supriya…have fun! Regarding ur temple post…I m not a religious person at all and try carrying on as if there was no god so that I offer no excuses for my action or non-action. However, I do think our temples do provide psychological support by being an area where u can turn off ur worries and other activities and just focus on understanding the self and ones motives. You should visit the large temples down south in trivandrum, srirangam and other places where you can find a space where u can be alone and spend some quality time knowing urself.Chal…take care!Vijay
