You see the sign board placed strategically even before you enter the lane, sidelining the main road, still under construction. A witness to the sudden outpour of traffic, bustling real estate and a few accidents- this is the road that forms the base ground for a lot lives, probably more than anyone ever cares to think about. Careers, Families, Real Estates, Job seekers, Small time workers- many a stories exist, form and end…all on this road, ironically still under construction.
A new Tata Sky outlet settles beside the humble Punjabi Dhaba- the best bet in cheap rates, many would agree. Down the road Twins Square shuts down to give way to Faaso’s- maybe this hip and happening cafe would last a little longer.
As I walk in the morning, things still seem the same..the roads are wet, I’m sceptical about dirtying my jeans, Reliance supermarket though seems to have made progress- should open soon.
Despite hating the walk alone, I still end up doing that, almost everyday. Especially at night, its almost like I purposely walk out on my own, not wanting to wait for anyone, I don’t know why I do that. Its alright when I walk out, but the road is eerie at night, cars keep passing by..people walk, I cross the area that resembles a steep valley on both sides. I hear music from the slums. Om shanti Om. Very hep, I feel amused. What if there’s an animal in these bushes, who will suddenly jump out? Just walk. Or call a friend. I reach the end of the road..towards the main crossing.
Even the pirated cd seller has a new cd rack! Earlier all he had was a folding table. Sigh. Times sure have changed.
Only some things haven’t.
